Zoho Chat is a web based chat system. It does not need any software to be downloaded or installed and you can access Zoho Chat using just a web browser and an internet connection.

You can add a contact either using their email ID or Zoho ID.
On adding the contact, if you are using the Zoho ID of the contact, then an 'Add Request' will be sent to the contact for acceptance. And you can chat with the contact once your request has been accepted.
If you are adding a contact using an email ID, we will check whether the ID is registered with Zoho or not. If yes, we will send an 'Add request' to add in his/her contact, else we will send an invitation to the person to become a Zoho Chat user and will add you to his/her account automatically.
Yes, you can search the contacts just by typing the starting letters of their Zoho ID. All your contacts that match the phrase that you are searching for will get listed.
Just click on a contact's name/ID and start chat with him/her.
Yes, you can participate in multiple chats at a time. A separate tab is created for every chat. You can switch tabs to converse with different contacts.
Yes, you can. We will create a chat session even if your contacts are offline. Refer the above question on how to start chat. Your messages will get displayed in the "Unread Chat" list when your friend comes online.
A group is nothing but a conference involving multiple contacts in a single chat window (tab). That is, if you are frequently chatting with a group of members, then you can group all the contacts together and can identify them with a single name. On clicking the group, a group chat or conference gets created by including all the group members as participants.
On clicking "+Add" link beside the Groups list header, you will be shown the 'Add Group' screen. Just choose a name for your group and pick your group members from the contacts list.
Yes, you can modify the existing groups. Just click on the 'Edit' icon shown in the right hand side of the group. Once clicked, you will be shown with a screen which is similar to the 'Add Group' screen. You can add/delete contacts as needed and finally click the 'Modify' link/button.
Yes, just use 'Modify Group', delete the members in the selection list and click 'Modify'.
Yes, you can. just click on the red cross icon on the right side of the corresponding group. And once clicked it will be deleted.
Transcript holds your chat history. All your previous chat will be available here.

Yes, transcript is search enabled. just type the word which you want to find and you will be listed with a bunch of transcripts which posses the word.

Ofcourse, you can, just click on the specific chat title and you will be shown with the corresponding transcripts. Clicking on the editor will make the chat live and any message you send will continue the chat further.
To chat with a non-registered zoho member, use the "Invite your friend to chat with you" option which is available in the Home tab. Enter your message and mail ids to invite, at once your friend will be sent with a link. That link points to your guest room from there anyone can chat with you as a guest.
Note:Guest users were considered as a temporary participant and their presence will not be maintained once he left the chat.
You are allowed to invite any guest to an ongoing chat, just by adding through invite guest in the "Add Participants" UI. If you are in a live chat, click on the "+ Add" link in the participants list. Then you will be shown with the "Add Participants" UI, in that choose invite guest, then enter the email id to invite. Once invited, your guest will be sent an email with a link pointing to your guest room for this specific chat. From there anyone can participate as guest for this specific chat and can send offline messages too.
Click on Embed Chat in the Home tab or from the top link. You will be shown with embed ui, where you can configure the chat ui in the way you want to embed in your web page or blog(which supports html).
First step: Refer the Q20 to configure your ui.
Second step: Copy the generated code snippet for the configurations you have made.
Third step: Paste the code in your web page where you need to embed.
For eg: consider index.html is your web page where you want to embed zohochat.
Then paste the code snippet in index.html and position chat wherever you want.
Fourth step: Thats it, now your web page is chat enabled and anyone who is visiting your web page can able to chat with you provided if you are online in zoho.

Second step: Put it in a "<div>" tag and specify the height and width for the "<div>" tag of your choice.

Just click on the '+ Add' link beside the Participants header of the corresponding chat window. Once clicked you will be shown with the UI. Then choose "Invite Guest" tab and enter the mail id of the guest and click "Add Participant".
Guest users will be shown in the participants list only when they were online. i.e., zohochat wont consider them as participants until unless they were online.
On inviting a guest, zohochat will intimate the recipient about your request for their participation via mail. In the mail, we will send a link, and through that your guest user can able to participate in the specific chat.
Yes, guest access can be blocked by clicking on block link, which exists in the bottom of the participants list of the specific chat.
This is because any registered user participating in that specific chat may block the guest access. Which in turn blocks you to continue this chat, and you can participate in this specific chat only if guest access was enabled.
